Gomer est un génie et un danger public, c'est bien connu. Mais on oublie souvent qu'il est loin d'être le seul. Dans son entreprise de subversion du monde du travail, il est régulièrement accompagné de sa ménagerie domestique - chat blagueur, mouette caractérielle, souris vorace et même, occasionnellement, un poisson rouge - et de ses camarades en fainéantise et idées farfelues, Jules et Bertie. Sans compter, parfois, de parfaits inconnus séduits par son enthousiasme et son imagination. Au grand dam de diverses figures d'autorité !
Gomer n'a pas son pareil pour semer la pagaille dans les locaux du Journal de Spirou, au grand dam du rédac' chef Prunelle et de ce malheureux Mr De Mesmaeker. Mais n'allez surtout pas le sous-estimer :

On ne peut pas nier le génie de Gomer. Mécanique, botanique, chimie, zoologie, musicologie ... il est capable de fulgurances intellectuelles dans tous les domaines qu'il touche. Le problème, c'est que ses inventions, pour géniales qu'elles soient, ne sont jamais complètement adaptées au lieu - ou au moment. Du coup, les désastres s'accumulent, et l'exaspération monte chez ses collègues. Heureusement, il lui reste au moins la loyauté de son chat et de sa mouette, et l'indéfectible affection de Miss Jeanne ...
